Stanley W. Redford, President     [-]

Mr. Redford is president and principal owner of Redford Construction, Inc. As president, Mr. Redford oversees the daily field operations of the company. He takes responsibility for the condition of the equipment fleet and ensuring that each project is allocated the proper equipment. Mr. Redford is also active with clientele ensuring that their expectations are met and that projects are completed within the allotted time. Mr. Redford began his career in 1985 in the plumbing industry as a foreman and equipment operator. He advanced his skills and knowledge in the underground construction industry with a utility contractor specializing in large diameter sewers and waterlines.

In 1994, Redford Construction was organized with a two-person crew. Through his hard work and dedication, Mr. Redford has grown the company to include over 90 employees and more than 65 major pieces of excavation equipment. He has grown the annual revenues that now exceed $30 million and strengthened the company for future success and expansion.

Community involvement is important to Mr. Redford. He has contributed time, resources and/or money to several organizations including D.A.R.E., Ozanam Boys Home, Hope House, USSA Jr. Baseball, and Cass County Boys Home and is an Associate Director of the Community Bank of Raymore and a Charter Stockholder of the Community Bank of Pleasant Hill. He is a devoted father and husband and is active in his church organization.

Larry T. Hudgens, Project Manager/Estimator     [-]

Mr. Hudgens is a project manager/estimator for Redford Construction, Inc. In this capacity he is relied upon to take projects from bid phase to final completion. His daily responsibilities are those necessary to fulfill timely project completion while remaining within the contract budget.

Prior to joining Redford Construction in 2001, Mr. Hudgens accumulated 28 years of estimating and project management experience in the heavy construction industry. He began his career as a general laborer, advanced to foreman, eventually became an estimator and then project manager for TJ Hudgens Construction (family owned business). He has managed projects ranging from $1 million to $6 million that included various pipe sizes from 8-inch diameter to 102-inch diameter and encompassed water transmission mains, sanitary sewer interceptors, and storm drainage improvements.

Mr. Hudgens’ past experience includes many high profile contracts. His most notable projects include:

  • City of Columbia, MO – Lower Hinkson Creek Outfall; 22,500 LF of 48”-60” pipe; $6.6 mil.
  • State of Oklahoma – GRDA Coal Fired Generating Station Unit No. 2 circulating waterline; 2,970 LF of 102” pipe; $1.4 mil.
  • City of Kansas City, MO - Big Blue WWTP Section 2; plant yard piping in sizes 30”-72”; $0.9 mil.
  • Kansas Department of Transportation – I-70 & 18th Street Improvements; 12”-66” storm sewers, & 54” sanitary sewer; $4.8 mil.
  • Poplar Bluff, MO – Sanitary sewer improvements; 50,000 LF of 10”-48” pipe; $5.4 mil.
  • Raymore, MO – Sanitary sewer improvements; 8”-36” gravity sewer pipe & 24” force main; $2.1 mil.
  • Johnson County Wastewater District (Overland Park, KS) – Blue River No. 8, Contract No. 2 sewerage improvements; 14,000 LF of 8”-42” gravity sewer & 10,000 LF of 16” force main; $2.6 mil.
  • Clay County, MO – Clay County Airport improvements; 1,200 LF of 72” RCP; $0.4 mil.

Past professional memberships include two terms on the Board of Directors of the Heavy Construction Association – Utility Division. Mr. Hudgens is the father of four children and is an active supporter of PTA activities and youth sports events.

Michael D. Bader, Project Manager/Estimator     [-]

Mr. Bader is a project manager/estimator for Redford Construction, Inc. In this capacity he is relied upon to take projects from bid phase to final completion. His daily responsibilities are those necessary to fulfill timely project completion while remaining within the contract budget.

Prior to joining Redford Construction in 2006, Mr. Bader accumulated 20 years of estimating and project management experience in the heavy construction industry. He began his career as a general laborer, advanced to foreman, eventually became an estimator for Utility Contractors, Inc. located in Wichita, KS. After moving to the Kansas City area he worked for a couple of different contractors until he became Vice-President of Razorback Contractors. He was in charge of all the daily operations which amounted to $9 million dollars per year. He has managed projects ranging from $100 thousand to $6 million that included various pipe sizes from 8-inch diameter to 12’ x 12’ precast box culverts and encompassed water transmission mains, sanitary sewer interceptors, and storm drainage improvements.

Mr. Bader’s past experience includes many high profile contracts. His most notable projects include:

  • JE Dunn Construction – Sprint World Headquarters – Overland Park, KS: Site Utilities $2.6 mil.
  • City of Lenexa, KS – Coon Creek Wetlands and Stream Stabilization improvements; $1.8 mil.
  • City of Kansas City, MO – Gracemore Relief Sewer; $1.4 mil.
  • City of Topeka, KS – NE Madison Street Storm Drainage; 5,000 LF of precast box from 12’ x 12’ to 5’ x 4’, adjacent storm sewers and street reconstruction; 2.8 mil.
  • Johnson County Wastewater District (Overland Park, KS) – State Park Force Main improvements; 24,000 LF of 24” force main; $2.2 mil.
  • City of Kansas City, MO – KC Live Improvements; Downtown replacement of sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and waterlines; $3.5 mil.

Mr. Bader is the father of three children and is an active supporter of school activities and youth sports events. He enjoys hunting, fishing, golf, and outdoor activities.

Thomas L. Hudgens, Project Manager/Estimator     [-]

Thomas joined Redford Construction, Inc. in June 2002. He graduated from the University of Kansas in May 2001 with a Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering w/ an emphasis in Construction Management.

After a short stint with a general contractor specializing in commercial buildings, Thomas decided to join Redford Construction as an estimator. After several years of working as an estimator and an assistant project manager he has advanced to become a project manager in which he is relied upon to procure projects from the initial bid phase thru final project completion.

Thomas has greatly increased his knowledge of the heavy construction industry in his time with Redford Construction and has overseen the construction of many projects including the following:

  • Brookside 8th & 9th Plat Subdivision (Raymore, MO); sanitary sewer, storm sewer, & water main construction for residential development; $428,000.
  • The Falls at Crackerneck Creek - Bass Pro Shops Site Development (Independence, MO); 6800 LF 6”- 42” gravity sewer pipe, 2400 LF 15”- 48” storm sewer, 7’ x 5’ RCB, 12,700 LF 6” -20” water main; $2.4 mil.
  • State of Missouri National Guard – OMS Sanitary Sewer (Kansas City, MO); sanitary sewer improvements; $175,000.
  • Tiffany Hills Aquatic Center (Kansas City, MO); sanitary sewer, storm sewer, & water main construction for an aquatic park; $153,000.
  • Morningview 4th Plat Subdivision (Raymore, MO); sanitary sewer; storm sewer, & water main construction for residential development; $216,000.

When away from work Thomas enjoys golfing, camping, live music, and attending sporting events.

Galen L. Young, CSP - Safety Supervisor     [-]

Mr. Young is the safety director for Redford Construction, Inc.  He is responsible for assuring the safety and health of company employees and protecting other company assets from loss.  His daily responsibilities include jobsite safety audits to assure compliance with company and OSHA-mandated standards.  He monitors safety and health policies and procedures, analyzes loss information, and conducts safety training. He coordinates the workers’ compensation program, and liaisons with interested third party personnel.

After serving in the United States Marine Corps, Mr. Young attended the University of Central Missouri and graduated with Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Safety Management.  He also was certified as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) in 1989.  Prior to joining Redford Construction in 2008, Mr. Young had 34 years of experience in risk control management, consultation, and jobsite safety management.

Mr. Young has provided extensive client-related safety and health loss source analysis, program planning, policy development, implementation, and jobsite monitoring.  His professional safety experience includes:

  • Site safety manager for National Steel Constructors and its subcontractors at the $276,000,000 Sprint Center Arena, Kansas City, MO.
  • Site safety manager and CCM safety consultation for construction change-over and plant additions at Ford assembly plant in Claycomo, MO and GM assembly plant in Fairfax, KS.
  • Regional Construction Loss Control services for large contractors that were Hartford Insurance Group policyholders in five-state territory of MO, KS, NE, IA, and IL.
  • Risk management loss prevention services for insured clients with diverse operations and service needs in construction, general industry, commercial, and healthcare organizations for Liberty Mutual, Accident Fund, Missouri Employers Mutual, and Commercial Union insurance companies.

Mr. Young has two married daughters and five grandchildren.  He enjoys spending time with his family, golfing with friends, and church related ministries.  He is a founding member and active participant in the Construction Safety Group of Kansas City.

Dwight Thies, Field Superintendent     [-]

Mr. Thies is a field superintendent for Redford Construction, Inc. With 33 years experience in the construction industry, Dwight has been involved in many facets of civil/site work projects. He has extensive knowledge of the operation and capabilities of many types of excavation equipment and his input on the resources necessary to complete projects is invaluable. Throughout his career Dwight has been involved with projects that were constructed in ‘sensitive’ environments which lends well to the work involved at Tar Creek.

Brief Work History of Major Excavation Projects:

  • Cosgrove Construction – mass excavating for large office buildings in downtown Kansas City, MO.
  • 11th & Walnut – six levels above ground, one level below ground.
  • 47th & Jefferson – twelve levels above ground, six levels below ground.
  • Razorback Construction – City of Shawnee, KS; Johnson Drive and Woodland Road street & intersection reconstruction project.
  • Johnson Construction – City of Prairie Village, KS; Brush Creek Channel Improvements ($1.2 mil) – Channel Improvements and Bank Stabilization including placement of gabion baskets.

Since joining Redford Construction, Inc. Dwight has completed several, large multi-faceted projects encompassing earthwork and utility installations including Fairway Ridge ($1mil+), Lakewood Terrace Apartments ($0.5mil), and Winterset Development ($1-2mil).
